He said this year’s global theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” aligns with Nigeria’s education reform agenda, emphasizing that cooperation among teachers enhances both classroom effectiveness and professional growth.
“A collaborative teacher understands that education is not an individual task but a shared responsibility,” the Minister said. “Such teachers freely share lesson plans, resources, and strategies, while showing humility to learn from others.”
The Minister noted that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, has introduced several policies to revitalize the teaching profession, including the National Teacher Policy designed to empower and motivate educators.
He also highlighted the roles of key institutions such as the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the National Teachers Institute (NTI), and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in promoting continuous professional development, teacher licensing, and the use of ICT to connect educators nationwide.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that teaching should no longer be seen as a solitary practice but a collaborative one built on trust, openness, and shared responsibility. He added that when teachers work together through peer mentoring, co-teaching, and digital platforms, student performance improves, and teachers gain fulfillment in their work.
Commending teachers for their resilience and dedication, the Minister described them as the “bedrock of human capital development and nation-building.”
He called on stakeholders including teacher unions, community leaders, parents, and development partners to strengthen their collective efforts toward achieving the goals of the Education for Renewed Hope Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).
“When Nigerian teachers collaborate and thrive, our children learn better, our education system becomes stronger, and our nation is assured of a brighter future,” he said.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding teachers and schools in recognition of their excellence and contributions to quality education across the country.
