According to the General Manager of LASWA, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, the launch event will be attended by top government officials, development partners, and key stakeholders in the transport and maritime sectors. It will feature a virtual presentation of the project and a ceremonial unveiling by Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Emmanuel explained that the Omi Eko Project would redefine Lagos’s water transport ecosystem through the deployment of 78 high-capacity electric ferries, digital ticketing systems, intelligent terminals, and enhanced safety infrastructure.
He noted that the initiative aims to significantly reduce travel time, ease road congestion, and provide Lagosians with a reliable, safe, and eco-friendly commuting alternative.
Describing the Five Cowries Terminal as one of the state’s busiest intermodal hubs linking land and water routes, Emmanuel said the venue symbolises Lagos’s progress toward an integrated transport system as envisioned in the Lagos Urban Mobility Plan.
He added that beyond improving infrastructure, the Omi Eko Project would advance the state’s climate resilience goals and support its sustainable transport agenda through smart technology and environmentally friendly innovation.
