Dangote explained that the expansion project would position the refinery as the largest in the world, surpassing India’s Jamnagar Refinery. He added that construction work for the upgrade would begin immediately and is expected to be completed within three years.

According to him, the expansion would create employment for 65,000 workers, with 85 percent of the workforce drawn from Nigeria. Dangote also disclosed that the refinery’s power generation capacity would increase from 500MW to 1,000MW to support operations.
He noted that the facility would begin producing Euro 6 standard petroleum products, an improvement from the current Euro 5 specification.

Dangote further stated that the refinery would be listed on the stock exchange in 2026, allowing Nigerians to own shares in the company.
The billionaire industrialist expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support, emphasizing that the expansion marks another milestone in Nigeria’s drive toward energy self-sufficiency.
