The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on House Services, Hon. Daniel Amos, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amos, who represents Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, announced his defection during a rally held at the Kafanchan Township Stadium on Wednesday. He was received by Senator Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, alongside other APC leaders.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and read during plenary, Amos explained that his decision was influenced by “unresolved contradictions” within the PDP at the national level, which he said had crippled the party’s ability to function as an effective opposition.
“My decision to leave the PDP was not taken lightly. It was a hard decision, especially considering that the party gave me the mandate to represent my people after years of dedicated service,” Amos said.
He lamented that the PDP had lost focus and direction, describing it as “a party weighed down by its own internal antics,” making it increasingly unattractive to committed members.
The lawmaker noted that after extensive consultations with his constituents, he decided to join the APC to align with the developmental policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He said his defection also aimed to support the efforts of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, in promoting peace, unity, and economic growth in the state.

Party leaders at the event welcomed Amos, describing his defection as a boost to the APC’s strength in Southern Kaduna.
