The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that it is aware of certain details surrounding the reported United States airstrikes on a terrorist enclave in Sokoto State but has deliberately refrained from making them public, leaving the matter for the military to address.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Tuesday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.

Hundeyin explained that the police are deeply involved in intelligence gathering and information sharing with relevant security agencies. However, he noted that issues relating to foreign military operations fall strictly within the purview of national defence authorities.
“As a police force, we engage extensively in intelligence sharing, not just intelligence gathering. Yes, we are aware of certain details about U.S. strikes in Nigeria, but we do not want to speak on them publicly. We prefer to leave such matters for the military to handle,” he said.
He also confirmed that the police received information about debris from the reported U.S. operation landing in Offa, Kwara State. According to him, officers were immediately deployed to the area to secure it and prevent residents from coming into contact with the materials.

“We promptly sent our personnel to Offa to ensure public safety and to stop people from tampering with the debris. The area was secured, and our officers remained on ground to guarantee the safety of residents,” Hundeyin added.
The police spokesman stressed that while the force may not comment publicly on defence-related operations, it remains committed to protecting lives and property whenever security concerns arise.
