Long before social media debates took hold, stories of rivalry between Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji had already gained traction, but the Nollywood star says those claims were never true.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the veteran actress has dismissed reports suggesting she was once in conflict with Genevieve, insisting that the supposed feud was largely a creation of fans and media narratives. Omotola made the clarification during an interview on Yanga FM, excerpts of which circulated on Instagram on Wednesday.

She explained that at the peak of their careers, comparisons between leading actresses were common and often exaggerated into competition, even when there was no personal disagreement involved. According to her, the idea of rivalry was imposed on them without their input.

Responding to a question about whether there was ever lingering tension before they collaborated in the film EJ, Omotola said there was no bad blood between them, noting that they communicated normally behind the scenes.
Mixing English and Pidgin, she stated that fans effectively invented the quarrel before the actresses were even aware such a narrative existed.
She compared the situation to how music stars are frequently pitted against one another today, saying Nollywood actors were among the first to experience that kind of manufactured rivalry.

Omotola further noted that industry-driven comparisons, such as labeling one actress the “hottest” over another, naturally created pressure, but these moments were often misunderstood as personal conflicts.
She stressed that her personality does not lend itself to confrontations, adding that both she and Genevieve were rarely in the same social spaces where disputes could even arise.
According to her, what the public interpreted as hostility was simply the normal tension that comes with working in a competitive industry, not a personal feud between two colleagues.
