According to him, the intervention is part of broader reforms designed to reposition engineering and technology education as a driver of industrialisation, innovation and economic growth. He noted that the programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which emphasises skills development, youth empowerment and industrial productivity.
Alausa explained that the project will address longstanding concerns about the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on competence among engineering graduates by providing modern equipment, advanced laboratories and updated training facilities.
The Special High Impact Projects will be implemented across the six geopolitical zones.
In the North-Central zone, the benefiting institutions are the University of Abuja (FCT), the Federal University of Technology, Minna (Niger State), and the African Aviation University (FCT).
For the North-East, selected universities include Modibbo Adama University, Yola (Adamawa State), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (Bauchi State), and Nigeria Army University Biu (Borno State).

In the North-West, projects will take place at Federal University, Birnin Kebbi (Kebbi State), Federal University of Technology, Babura (Jigawa State), and Shehu Shagari University of Education (Sokoto State).
The South-East beneficiaries are Abia State University (Abia State), Federal University of Technology, Owerri (Imo State), and Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (Enugu State).
In the South-South zone, the intervention covers Rivers State University (Rivers State), Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (Akwa Ibom State), and Delta State University, Abraka (Delta State).
For the South-West, beneficiary institutions include Obafemi Awolowo University (Osun State), Federal University of Technology, Akure (Ondo State), and University of Ilesha (Osun State).
The minister stressed that the newly inaugurated committee will monitor project execution, ensure compliance with approved standards, track fund utilisation and submit periodic reports to the ministry and TETFund.
He added that the success of the intervention would not be measured merely by new buildings and equipment, but by functional workshops, improved practical skills and graduates who are ready to compete in a rapidly evolving global technology landscape.
