Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will not allow insurgents to undermine the country’s peace or intimidate its citizens.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Shettima gave the assurance following recent insurgent attacks in parts of Borno State, which reportedly included abductions in Ngoshe and coordinated assaults on military locations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok.

The Vice President’s reaction came after Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier reached out to the government and people of the state over the incidents.
In a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima strongly condemned the attacks and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He revealed that the Federal Government had begun deploying additional tactical equipment and intelligence support to affected areas in response to the security situation.
“The events of the past few days are painful, but we must choose hope over fear,” Shettima said.

He added that President Tinubu had been fully briefed on the situation and had directed a swift and comprehensive mobilisation of Nigeria’s security forces.
“The Federal Government will not allow any place in Nigeria to become a safe haven for people who want to displace citizens or take over any part of our land,” the Vice President said.
Shettima further assured Nigerians that those responsible for the attacks would be tracked down and made to face the full weight of the law.
