A tragic incident in Ogoja has sparked outrage after a 35-year-old man, Malime Ejor, was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Lucy Igu.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that, the 26-year-old woman was attacked and later taken to a nearby stream close to a farm, where she was fatally injured.

Sources claim the suspect acted out of suspicion that she was being unfaithful.
News of the incident quickly spread across the community, triggering anger and grief. In a video that has since gone viral, groups of women were seen protesting in the town, calling for justice and condemning the killing.
The spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed that the incident happened in the early hours of March 28, 2026, in Nwang Village, Ekajuk.

He said police officers moved swiftly after receiving the report and were able to arrest the suspect. According to him, the man was also protected from an attempted mob attack by angry youths and is currently in custody while investigations continue.
The police added that the victim’s body is yet to be deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Ogoja, as arrangements are still ongoing.
Authorities also revealed that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further and more detailed investigation.
