In a bid to deepen agricultural development and enhance food security, the Supervisor and Special Adviser for Agriculture in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area have held their first strategic engagement with farmers across the council area at the quarterly Farmers’ Forum.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting, held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Council Secretariat in Agbowa, brought together farmers from various communities, marking a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between government and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

In his opening remarks, the Head of Department (HOD) for Agriculture, Mr. Paramole Hassan, introduced the Supervisor for Agriculture and Rural Services, Hon. Saheed Abass, and the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Hon. Kunle Akintola.
He emphasized the importance of the Farmers’ Forum as a vital platform for engagement, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of food production within the LCDA.
He highlighted the critical role of agriculture in ensuring food security and encouraged farmers to remain committed to initiatives that would boost productivity and sustainability.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Abass outlined plans of the Executive Chairman, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo,
aimed at supporting farmers and expanding agricultural activities across the LCDA.
He also informed participants about an upcoming empowerment programme designed to provide tools and necessary support for farmers across different categories.
He urged farmers to begin early preparations for the planting season, assuring them of the administration’s commitment to addressing their needs.
In his remarks, Hon. Akintola reaffirmed the readiness of the leadership to work collaboratively with farmers to drive agricultural development and improve livelihoods across the council area.
Further speaking, the HOD elaborated on available support mechanisms, including regular engagement meetings and participation in agricultural initiatives.
He referenced opportunities such as loan and grant schemes facilitated by Tokunbo Abiru and the NIRSAL, aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ikosi-Ejinrin All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Lateef Ifesanya, commended the initiative while highlighting key challenges faced by farmers, and called for sustained government support to improve productivity and market access.
The forum also featured an exhibition of farm produce including banana, plantain, garri, coconut, smoked fish, and pineapples, showcasing the rich agricultural potential within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
The engagement ultimately served as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and renewed commitment toward achieving food security and economic growth across the council area.
