Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area made a strong and impactful showing at the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, as stakeholders from across the state gathered to advance the cause of women and girls.

Action for All Women and Girls,” attracted top government officials including Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, alongside other key stakeholders committed to promoting inclusive policies and gender equality.

The Ikosi-Ejinrin delegation was led by the Wife of the Executive Chairman, Dr. Nafisat Olajumoke Anomo, and coordinated by the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,
Mrs. Onaneye Adetutu, alongside the Special Adviser on WAPA, Ms. Bakare Omoshalewa, the Head of Department, Mrs. Goodluck Yetunde, and other women leaders across the LCDA.
The gathering provided a vital platform for dialogue on critical issues including women’s rights, access to justice, economic empowerment, and social inclusion, in line with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision of building a more equitable society.
In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state’s unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of women and girls while strengthening access to justice and implementing impactful policies.
“We must move from advocacy to action. Investment in women is not optional; it is essential for sustainable development.”
Also speaking, the First Lady emphasized the need for intentional efforts to empower women and expand their opportunities.
“We must continue to build the capacity of women, create more economic opportunities, and encourage greater participation of women in leadership and governance.”
Stakeholders at the event collectively stressed the importance of stronger institutional support, inclusive frameworks, and sustained collaboration in advancing gender equality and improving the socio-economic well-being of women and girls.
The active participation of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA underscores its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women empowerment, inclusion, and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
