EKO HOT BLOG reports that the protest comes amid a prolonged leadership dispute that has fractured the party and heightened tensions within its ranks.
At the centre of the crisis is the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw recognition of the leadership headed by David Mark, a move that has complicated efforts to restore stability within the party.
The situation escalated on Tuesday following the emergence of a third faction, further deepening divisions across the party’s structure.
The Mark-led National Working Committee remains locked in a struggle for control with a rival faction led by former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is also laying claim to the national chairmanship.
In a fresh development, another group aligned with former ADC presidential candidate Dumebi Kachukwu announced the formation of a National Caretaker Committee to oversee the party’s affairs pending resolution of the dispute.
With the latest developments, the ADC now appears divided into three factions, each claiming legitimacy over the party’s leadership.

Despite the internal crisis, some opposition figures have alleged that the All Progressives Congress may be behind the turmoil, claiming that external forces are seeking to weaken the opposition ahead of future elections.
