The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has cautioned its members against endorsing aspirants ahead of the party’s forthcoming primaries, warning that such moves are unauthorized and could create divisions within its ranks.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on April 19, 2026, the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the party had received reports of some local government chairmen publicly projecting certain individuals as “consensus candidates” for elective positions.

Ojelabi stressed that such actions go against the party’s core values of internal democracy, fairness, and due process.
He noted that the party is yet to release any official guidelines or timetable for the conduct of its primaries in Lagos, making any form of endorsement at this stage premature and misleading.
According to the party leadership, these activities risk creating unnecessary tension, fueling suspicion, and undermining unity at a time when cohesion is critical.
The APC also warned that disciplinary measures would be taken against any member or official found engaging in what it described as “unauthorized and destabilizing acts.”
Reassuring party members, Ojelabi said all aspirants would be given a level playing field, free from intimidation or undue influence.
He further urged officials expected to oversee the primaries to remain neutral, emphasizing that the credibility of the process depends on fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to party rules.
