The command emphasized that no insurgent suspects have been detained anywhere within the boundaries of Kwara State.
Providing transparent context to the incident that sparked the online panic, the police detailed that operatives from the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) intercepted a commercial transit truck during a proactive, intelligence-driven surveillance sweep on Tuesday night, May 27, 2026, at roughly 8:00 p.m.
The vehicle was found to be transporting a large group of Fulani travelers through the state capital. In compliance with standard law enforcement and screening protocols, the operatives thoroughly searched the vehicle and profiled all occupants.
The comprehensive security sweep turned up no incriminating items, contraband, or weapon threats; the passengers, who were documented as being in transit to Jigawa State, were subsequently escorted out of the metropolis to continue their journey peacefully.
While clearing up the false terrorism scare, the command reported real operational success elsewhere in Ilorin. Following persistent distress complaints from locals regarding late-night criminal operations, the VCRU executed a swift raid in the early hours of Tuesday around the Tanke, Asa Dam, and Dangote Road sectors.
The strategic operation successfully dismantled a notorious criminal network, resulting in the direct arrest of three suspects linked to systematic armed robberies and the active vandalization of public solar light infrastructure.

Law enforcement teams recovered two locally fabricated pistols, heavy pliers, and an assortment of illicit hard drugs used to fuel the syndicate’s operations.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, highly commended the proactive vigilance of the VCRU team and reaffirmed his administration’s unalloyed commitment to wiping out criminal activities across the state.
Reassuring the public that law enforcement will not allow any lawless elements to operate freely, the police chief strongly urged state residents to remain calm, go about their daily routines, completely disregard unverified internet rumors, and avoid sharing fake news capable of threatening public peace and regional stability.
