The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying Governor Seyi Makinde is poised to lead what it called a “one-man” PDP Governors Forum, reflecting the opposition party’s alleged internal collapse.
In a statement released on Saturday, Eko Hot Blog gathered that APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo said ongoing defections of PDP governors to the ruling party have weakened the party’s credibility and structure.

He described the situation as a sign of a deeper leadership crisis within the PDP.

“Governor Seyi Makinde now stands on the brink of becoming the de facto chairman of a ‘one-man PDP Governors Forum’, a situation that illustrates the party’s dwindling influence. What was once a united leadership platform is now reduced to a solitary post,” Oladejo said.
He added that the departures of governors and key stakeholders are not coincidental but a direct rejection of the PDP’s leadership, ideological clarity, and ability to manage internal conflicts.
“A party that cannot manage its internal affairs, loses its elected leaders, and lacks coherent direction cannot be trusted with governing a complex country like Nigeria. The PDP’s current state is more than a failure; it is a warning,” he stated.

Oladejo further warned that the weakening of opposition politics could have negative consequences for Nigeria’s democracy. “We are witnessing a collapse of responsible opposition politics, undermined by ego clashes, indiscipline, and a focus on power without preparation.
Nigerians deserve an organised and credible opposition, not one imploding in real time,” he said.
He urged opposition parties to learn from the APC’s years in opposition, which he described as marked by sacrifice, discipline, and strategic patience.

“The APC did not stumble into power; it earned trust and legitimacy by presenting a clear alternative. The opposition can do the same, but it requires hard work, not opportunism,” Oladejo added.
The Lagos APC concluded by reaffirming its commitment to governance and strengthening democratic institutions, contrasting its stability with what it called the PDP’s self-destructive tendencies.
