Students living around Ekiti State University are still shaken after a late-night robbery attack on their hostels, an incident that has renewed concerns about safety in off-campus accommodation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the attack happened in the Iworoko area of Ado Ekiti in the early hours of Saturday, when armed men reportedly broke into student hostels and forcefully took phones and other personal belongings.

For many of the students affected, it was a terrifying experience, as the attackers struck while they were asleep, leaving them vulnerable and distressed.
The Nigeria Police Force said it received a distress call around 2:30 am and quickly deployed officers to the area. Acting on information gathered, operatives tracked the suspects to a hideout and arrested two individuals.

The suspects, identified as Abdulraman Abdulmumini, 26, and Abdulsalam Oseni, 31, were found with items believed to have been stolen, including mobile phones and other personal belongings. Police also recovered a motorcycle suspected to have been used during the operation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the suspects have confessed and provided useful information to help track down other members of the gang who are still at large.
While investigations continue, the Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has urged residents and students to remain vigilant and share useful information that could help improve security in the area.
For many students, the incident highlights the urgent need for better protection around hostels, as they continue to hope for safer living conditions while pursuing their education.
