Bayelsa Man Stabs Mother To Death Over Alleged Ritual Attempt

A 22-year-old man from Elebele, Bayelsa State, stabbed his mother to death after a failed attempt to use her for rituals.

Community sources revealed the suspect recently returned from a Yahoo boys’ training camp in a neighboring state. A local pastor had warned the mother to reject strange gifts from him.

The Elebele Youth President, Comrade Precious Okala, confirmed the incident, stating he was alerted around 6 PM. On arriving, he found the woman’s body and the suspect tied up by community youths.

“We were told that since the man came back from this particular state, he has been behaving in a strange manner. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with his mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach.”

“The boy was heard saying that one ‘Baba’ had told him that his mother was in possession of his destiny and wealth,” Okala said.

An Elebele resident said the suspect distanced himself from friends and cooked meals his mother refused to eat. He was later handed over to police from the Kolo Division in Bayelsa State.

The spokesman of the state police command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
