Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi to Visit Nigeria, Three Other African Nations
- Wang Yi to visit Nigeria, Namibia, Republic of the Congo, and Chad from January 5 to 11, 2025.
- This marks the 35th year of China’s foreign minister visiting Africa on the first overseas trip of the year.
- Visits part of China’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties with African nations.
Nigeria, along with three other African nations, will host Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Chinese Foreign Minister, later this month.
Yi’s visits, which will take place from January 5 to January 11, 2025, are part of his annual routine and will also include stops in Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad.

This information was confirmed by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Friday. The visits are being made at the invitation of the respective countries.
This marks the 35th consecutive year that the Chinese foreign minister will kick off the year with an overseas trip to Africa.
