Court Remands Cemetery Worker For Raping Minor In Ondo

  • Court has remanded cemetery worker for raping minor in Ondo state.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that an Ondo state Magistrate Court has remanded a 32-year old cemetery worker Seun at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a female minor.

He was said to have committed the offence on January 10 at Igesa Street, Igbara-Oke, headquarters of Ifedore local government.

Owoyemi was alleged to have lured his victim with the sum of N100 and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her twice.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Niyi Taiwo, informed the court that the offence contravened provisions of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charge even as he stated in a statement that the allegation was planned to implicate him by the victim and her grandmother.

Presiding Magistrate, O.L. Abu, remanded the defendant to the Correctional Centre and ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The case was adjourned to February 28, 2022, for mentioning.
