COVID-19: Diaspora Nigerians Donate Medical Equipment To Ekiti Teaching Hospital
Spurred by fit of patriotic fervour and as part of their altruistic effort to give back to their home country and also help in addressing the medical challenges that pervade the country, Nigerian Medical Professionals in the Diaspora in the Americas and other parts of the world, have donated medical equipment worth millions of naira to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI).
The donation would not have come at any other time better than now as it came at the most fortunate moment when the country is grappling with the resurgence of the virulent COVID-19 infection.
Ekohotblog reports that the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) were received by the Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Adekunle Ajayi.
The items were handed over to the hospital on eve of last year Christmas, Thursday 24th December, by the Senior Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Femi Odere.
Reacting to the laudable development, Prof. Ajayi expressed delight at the generous offer and benevolent gesture of the diasporans.
He appreciated the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) and the SSA for ensuring the hospital benefit from the donation.
He said the hospital’s door is open to more support and collaborations that can aid its capacity to meet patients’ expectations.
