Democratic Republic of the Congo are one match away from securing Africa’s 10th ticket to the 2026 World Cup following Jamaica’s 1-0 victory over New Caledonia in Mexico in the early hours of Friday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bailey Cadamarteri scored before the break to send the Reggae Boyz into the intercontinental play off final, where they will face the Congolese side in a decisive encounter.
The development follows a failed attempt by the Nigeria Football Federation to replace DR Congo in the play offs. FIFA dismissed the protest over player eligibility, ending the Super Eagles’ chances and allowing the Leopards to continue their qualification campaign.
The crucial tie between DR Congo and Jamaica is scheduled for 10 p.m. Nigerian time on Tuesday, March 31.
In another semi final, Bolivia defeated Suriname 2-1 and will now face Iraq in Pathway 2.
Data from Transfermarkt shows DR Congo are the only non European side among the top 10 most valuable squads in the play offs. The Leopards are ranked 10th with a squad value of €155 million, while Italy lead the chart at €839 million.

Other teams in the top tier include Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Poland, Wales, Ireland and Czech Republic.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States.
