The gesture was part of a broader outreach to mark the 2026 Easter celebrations.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mrs. Nwifuru urged them to remain hopeful despite their current economic hardships. “Do not lose hope in life; always pray for God’s help,” she stated during the presentation of the discharge clearances.
The Head of Medical Social Work at the hospital, Dr. Sorochi Otu, commended the First Lady’s continued philanthropy, noting that the payment provides immediate financial relief to families struggling under the weight of healthcare costs.
Beyond the teaching hospital, the First Lady extended her medical and financial aid to several other facilities within the state.

Mr. John Nweke, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries at the EFFATA facility, expressed gratitude for the gift items and the timely financial intervention, noting that the support allowed many to return to their homes for the holiday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Governor’s wife has maintained a consistent pattern of settling medical debts for the vulnerable since the inception of the current administration, citing a commitment to social welfare and poverty alleviation.
