Edo Election: Vote and Return Home for Your Safety – Police Warn Residents
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has advised residents of Edo State to cast their votes in the upcoming governorship election on Saturday and return home immediately after voting.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Frank Mba, who is overseeing security for the election, emphasized that only accredited individuals would be permitted on the streets during the voting process.
During an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Mba outlined the security measures designed to ensure a peaceful election. He announced a restriction on vehicular movement from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., responding to public concerns about the election environment.

“It’s important for everyone to understand that if you are not accredited for election-related duties, you should not be out on the streets,” Mba stated.
He encouraged residents to perform their civic responsibility by voting and then returning home safely.
Mba also acknowledged the unique challenges of an off-cycle election, which often attracts political supporters from other states.
“Off-cycle elections naturally draw in party members from across the country, so we anticipate the presence of political sympathizers from all sides,” he explained.
