Speaking at the ‘Turning Point 7.0’ youth conference themed Emerge 2026 at the University of Lagos, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, encouraged youths to take responsibility for their future by turning ideas into practical results.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth, Mobolaji Ogunlende, Hamzat stressed that real growth comes from discipline, strong values, and knowledgenot just ambition.
He urged young people to match their passion with purpose, remain open to learning beyond the classroom, and stay resilient even when faced with failure. According to him, innovation only becomes meaningful when it leads to real-life solutions and opportunities, especially through entrepreneurship.
For many attendees, the event was more than a conference, it was a moment of reflection and motivation.
Convener Olusegun Odufuwa said the gathering was designed to help youths connect, learn, and stay inspired despite challenges, reminding them that their goals are still within reach.

Adding an economic perspective, Nonye Ayeni of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council encouraged youths to explore opportunities in non-oil exports, especially in agriculture and the creative sector, noting that they have the potential to compete globally.
