According to Ibrahim, the March campaign reached children in all 27 local government areas, marking a significant milestone in efforts to keep the state polio-free.

However, he noted that over 5,500 cases of resistance to vaccination were recorded, with the majority resolved through community engagement, while a smaller number remained outstanding.
He also identified Auyo, Babura, Birnin Kudu, Malam-Madori, Ringim and Gwiwa as areas where public awareness efforts were relatively weak.
The event, supported by the UNICEF Kano Field Office, brought together stakeholders to review the campaign and strengthen collaboration.
Representing the agency’s leadership, Muhammad Abdullah praised health workers and partners for the success of the exercise, stressing the need to sustain momentum until every eligible child is reached.

Also speaking, Deputy State Immunisation Officer Ashiru Ma’azu said the engagement aimed to improve cooperation with the media to boost awareness and participation in future campaigns.
Health Education Officer Sani Yusuf highlighted the role of journalists in shaping public perception, urging them to help dispel misinformation and encourage parents to embrace vaccination.
