EKO HOT BLOG reports that the order followed his arraignment before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a three count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime.
According to the DSS, the defendant made claims about personnel of the Nigerian Army, alleging that soldiers were poorly fed.
He was accused of posting a viral video on his 𝕏 handle in which he allegedly made statements capable of damaging the reputation of the Nigerian Army. The charge also included allegations of breach of public peace and felony.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges when they were read in court.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel, Mr E. Orubo, requested a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant pending the determination of the case.
In response, defence counsel, Marshall Abubakar, made an oral application for bail on behalf of his client.
The court declined the application and directed that a formal bail request must be filed.
Justice Abdulmalik subsequently ordered that the defendant be remanded in DSS custody until May 25, when trial in the matter is scheduled to commence.
The case follows earlier confirmation by the Nigerian Army that Chidiebere Mark was arrested over complaints raised by soldiers on social media regarding feeding and welfare.

The Army stated that preliminary findings showed the soldiers engaged with the blogger on several issues, adding that he allegedly encouraged actions capable of creating discontent within the system and misleading the public.
