Wahab said consultations with relevant stakeholders are ongoing to determine an appropriate schedule for the exercise. He explained that although a sensitisation programme had been planned for last week, logistical challenges delayed its implementation.
“The plan was to begin with a sensitisation programme last week; however, due to logistical issues, we have not commenced. We are working to identify a date suitable for all parties involved,” he said.
The commissioner added that the official date for the resumption of the exercise will be announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu once finalised.

The statement comes amid increased public discussions about waste management in Lagos, with residents expressing concerns over blocked drainage systems and improper refuse disposal across several communities.
Wahab urged residents to continue their normal daily activities, assuring that adequate notice would be given before the sanitation programme resumes.
The state government reiterated its commitment to improving environmental management and maintaining cleanliness across Lagos.
