LASG Boosts Rural Farmers’ Capacity with Distribution of Farm Tools

- Dr. Agbaje encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the farm tools effectively to improve their yields and contribute to food security in Lagos State.

In line with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to promoting food sufficiency and socio-economic growth, the Centre for Rural Development (CERUD) distributed small-scale farm tools to rural farming communities in the state, Eko Hot Blog reports.
The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity and empower farmers by providing essential resources for their operations.

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Lanre-Agbaje, Special Adviser on Rural Development, underlined Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to supporting local farmers in achieving good governance and self-reliance.
Dr. Agbaje encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the farm tools effectively to improve their yields and contribute to food security in Lagos State.
Noting that the farm tools were purchased using taxpayer funds, Dr. Agbaje emphasized the importance of using them productively for the benefit of the wider community.
Furthermore, he expressed CERUD’s willingness to consider other areas of support and collaboration with farmers in order to maintain a stable and affordable food supply for Lagos State citizens.
Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, cautioned recipients against selling the tools for immediate financial gains.
Instead, she highlighted the potential long-term socioeconomic benefits of utilizing the farm tools for their intended purposes.
Also present at the event were the Director, CERUD, Mr. Musibau Muyiwa Balogun; Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Olusola Ajisafe, management staff of CERUD and farmers drawn from the rural communities of Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Ojo and others.
