The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a woman abducted in Ikwerre Local Government Area after a security operation that culminated in a gun duel and the killing of two suspected kidnappers.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation, carried out by the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU) of the command, took place at the Emohua Annex around the Ozuaha axis, following credible intelligence received by the police.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the victim was kidnapped on December 5, and her family had already paid a ransom of ₦1.2 million before the police moved in.
She explained that upon sighting the operatives, the suspects opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
“The ACU, acting on credible intelligence, successfully rescued the kidnapped victim. The suspects engaged our operatives in a gunfight, which resulted in the death of two members of the gang,” Iringe-Koko said.

She added that other members of the kidnapping syndicate fled the scene with gunshot wounds, abandoning the ransom money and other items.
The rescued woman has since been safely reunited with her family, while a manhunt has been launched to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The Rivers State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
