President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for stronger collaboration with the United Kingdom to address growing security challenges in West Africa.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the President made the appeal while speaking at a State Banquet held in his honour at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III during his ongoing state visit.

Tinubu noted that the region continues to face complex security threats, particularly terrorism linked to the Sahel, stressing that Nigeria carries a major responsibility in maintaining regional stability.
He emphasised that tackling these challenges requires international cooperation, describing the UK as a key partner in efforts to combat insecurity.
The President also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, highlighting the country’s youthful population, entrepreneurial spirit, and determination to achieve growth despite existing challenges.
Reflecting on historical ties, Tinubu recalled the support Nigeria received from the UK during the struggle for democracy under military rule, noting that the solidarity shown at the time remains deeply appreciated.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the Commonwealth and expressed confidence that the relationship between both countries would continue to grow stronger.

In his response, King Charles III commended Nigeria’s progress and acknowledged the country’s growing influence globally.
He recalled his previous visits to Nigeria, noting the warmth of its people and the rapid pace of development across the country.
The monarch also praised the contributions of Nigerians living in the UK, highlighting their impact across sectors such as business, education, technology, and the arts.
He added that the presence of Nigerians has significantly enriched British society and strengthened the bond between both nations.
