Eko Hot Blog reports that the lecture was delivered by renowned Professor of Arabic Language Education, M.A. Shittu, of the Department of Foreign Languages (Arabic Unit), College of Language and Communication Arts Education (COLCAED), who also serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Titled “Synthesizing Convention and Modernity for a Prosperous Future: My Intellectual Footprint to Reinvigorate Arabic Studies in Nigeria,” the lecture highlighted Prof. Shittu’s scholarly contributions and forward-thinking vision for the development of Arabic education in Nigeria.
In his presentation, M.A. Shittu emphasized the need to bridge traditional Arabic scholarship with modern educational practices. “There is a need to harmonize our rich traditional heritage with contemporary methodologies to ensure the relevance and global competitiveness of Arabic studies,” he stated.
He further stressed the role of innovation in education. “Curriculum development, digital integration, and modern teaching approaches are essential to revitalizing Arabic studies and making it more appealing to younger generations,” he added.
The event attracted a distinguished audience, including members of the academic community, university management, students, and invited guests, all of whom commended the depth of insight and intellectual contributions shared during the lecture.
Participants described the lecture as enlightening and thought-provoking, noting that it provided practical pathways for repositioning Arabic studies within Nigeria’s evolving educational landscape.
