As the year draws to a close, Nigerians can anticipate at least three public holidays between December 2024 and January 2025. These holidays coincide with the Christmas and New Year celebrations, traditionally marked by feasting, travel, and family gatherings.
The federal government is expected to declare Wednesday, December 25, 2024, as a public holiday for Christmas, followed by Thursday, December 26, as Boxing Day.
Looking ahead to 2025, Wednesday, January 1, will likely be designated a public holiday to celebrate the New Year, allowing Nigerians to welcome the year with festivities and reflection.
These holidays provide a much-needed respite and an opportunity for citizens to connect with their cultural and familial roots during the festive season.
