A roadside bomb targeting a bus carrying security forces in Pakistan’s Balochistan province has killed at least five officers and injured dozens more, police confirmed on Sunday. The attack occurred in Noshki district and comes just days after a deadly train hijacking in the same region.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the bombing. The group had also claimed the earlier train hijacking, which resulted in numerous casualties.

Noshki’s senior superintendent of police, Hashim Momand, said over 30 paramilitary personnel were wounded in the blast. Another officer, Zafar Zamanani, reported that a second bus was badly damaged and that the dead and injured had been transported to a nearby hospital.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, vowing that those disrupting peace in the region “will be brought to a tragic end.” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also denounced the bombing, which adds to Pakistan’s worsening security challenges along its border with Afghanistan.
Local reports indicate the convoy consisted of at least eight buses traveling from Noshki to Taftan, near the Iranian border. Witnesses said the ambush began with an improvised explosive device (IED), followed by sustained gunfire from the attackers. Authorities fear the death toll may rise.
