Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched the construction of a 540-metre Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street in Ijagemo, Ijegun, under the Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the project, executed through the Office of Rural Development, forms part of the administration’s efforts to improve road connectivity and enhance the standard of living in rural communities.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, said the road would be completed within six months. He explained that the project would include solar-powered streetlights to enhance visibility, safety, and overall road quality for residents.
Dr. Agbaje appealed to members of the Ijagemo community to cooperate with contractors to ensure smooth and timely completion of the project.
He described the initiative as a key component of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritises the transformation of rural areas into thriving semi-urban settlements.
Also speaking, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, said the project reflects the governor’s commitment to grassroots development and his sincerity in delivering tangible results across communities.

A retired Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Audit Service Commission and Ministry of Special Duties, Dr. Yusuf Jimoh, commended the governor’s dedication to infrastructure growth, noting that Ijagemo residents had long awaited such a transformative intervention.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Iba LCDA, Alhaji Oyetolu Jamiu, lauded the state government and the Office of Rural Development for their proactive efforts in improving community life.
The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Dr. Thomas Agbogunleri, expressed gratitude to Dr. Agbaje for his leadership and continuous advocacy of the governor’s developmental agenda in rural Lagos.
