Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met with the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, to discuss stronger collaboration on tackling environmental challenges and improving climate resilience in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the minister paid a courtesy visit to the governor at Lagos House, Marina, where both leaders deliberated on the environmental pressures confronting Lagos as a coastal state.

Speaking after the meeting, Sanwo-Olu said the discussions focused on practical ways to strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government and Lagos State in addressing environmental issues.
“Today, I received the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, on a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina,” the governor said.
“We spoke about environmental challenges and what they mean for a coastal state like Lagos. We also shared ideas on strengthening collaboration and building practical solutions that protect our people and our communities.”
Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the state’s resilience to climate change through sustained investments in adaptation and environmental protection measures.
According to him, the government remains focused on addressing the effects of tidal activities and rising water levels through long-term interventions designed to protect vulnerable communities.
“As a government, we have continued to take proactive steps to improve our climate resilience and adaptability. We know the impact of tidal activity and rising water levels, which is why we are investing in long-term measures that help us respond better, protect vulnerable areas and secure the future of Lagos,” he said.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to strengthen cooperation on environmental sustainability and climate adaptation.
