- Former Senator Shehu Sani claims that for the first time since 1999, the traditionally divided Muslim-dominated North and Christian-dominated South of Kaduna State are united under the APC.
- Speaker of the House Abbas Tajudeen and Senator Sunday Marshall met with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to guarantee a “landslide victory” in the state for 2027.
- The shift is attributed to Governor Uba Sani’s all-inclusive administration and federal interventions, including new health and educational institutions in Southern Kaduna.
Former Senator Shehu Sani has declared that the state’s long-standing religious and regional voting divide has finally been breached.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking to State House correspondents on Wednesday, Sani noted that the Muslim-dominated northern districts and the Christian-dominated southern districts are now unified in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Historically, Kaduna’s electoral patterns have mirrored its internal demographics. Since the return of democracy in 1999, the northern parts of the state have leaned toward progressive parties like the APP, CPC, and APC, while the southern part, often referred to as Zone Three, remained a steadfast stronghold for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Shehu Sani credited this new political alignment to the “verifiable achievements” of the current administration.
“The governor has been able to build bridges between the North and the South,” Sani explained. “He runs an all-inclusive government that has given Kaduna State a new lease of life compared to the situation before 2023.”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, echoed these sentiments, noting that the APC is no longer limited to zones one and two.
He pointed to the recent defection of Senator Sunday Marshall from the PDP to the APC as a clear indicator of the party’s 100% acceptance across the state’s “nooks and crannies.”
Senator Sunday Marshall, who represents the Kaduna South Senatorial District, highlighted specific federal projects as the catalyst for the change in his region.
He cited the establishment of a new university and a Federal Medical Centre in the southern zone as evidence of President Tinubu’s commitment to balanced development.

“That showed us inclusiveness, and that’s why we are embracing the APC wholeheartedly,” Marshall stated. He added that political stakeholders in the region are currently working to bring the remaining “sideline” voters into the APC fold to ensure a total sweep in 2027.
The visit to Aso Rock was intended to brief the President on these developments and to assure the administration that the “old capital of Northern Nigeria” stands firmly behind the ruling party.
As political maneuvering for 2027 intensifies, the unity of Kaduna’s diverse voting blocs could prove to be a decisive factor in the upcoming national contest.
