EKO HOT BLOG reports that Akpabio’s motorcade was seen stationed outside the premises on Wednesday evening, and several other vehicles were observed entering the Villa.
However, the identities of those in the vehicles could not be confirmed, as journalists were not permitted to access the area.
This meeting comes shortly after the Senate summoned Nigeria’s intelligence chiefs to investigate serious allegations made by U.S. Congressman Perry Scott. Scott accused the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) of funding terrorist groups, including Boko Haram.
The Senate’s action follows a motion raised by Senator Mohammed Ndume (Borno South Senatorial District) under Order 41, calling for urgent national security consideration.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, Senate President Akpabio stressed that Nigeria would not allow USAID to continue its operations in the country if the allegations were substantiated. He stated, “It is important for Nigeria to ascertain the veracity of the allegation.”
