EKO HOT BLOG reports that Uzodimma made the remarks during a state dinner held in Owerri at the conclusion of the three day Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Presidential Communications Team National Media Tour of Federal Government and Imo State projects.
His comments were contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman.
‘Tinubu Is Another Lee Kuan Yew’
The governor praised Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as bold reforms capable of transforming Nigeria’s economy.
According to him, “In President Bola Tinubu, we have another Lee Kuan Yew.”
Lee Kuan Yew is widely recognised for transforming Singapore from a developing former British colony into one of the world’s most advanced and industrialised economies.
Uzodimma said President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, with a clear understanding of Nigeria’s economic challenges and immediately commenced reforms aimed at rebuilding the nation’s economy.
“The old order is gone and there is now a new order. President Tinubu knew exactly what he came to do. He started implementing the reforms immediately because he understood the task before him,” he said.
The governor likened Nigeria’s economic situation before the reforms to the biblical account of the Israelites’ bondage in Egypt, saying difficult decisions were necessary to reverse years of economic stagnation and poor growth.
While acknowledging that the reforms had created temporary hardship for many Nigerians, Uzodimma maintained that they were already yielding positive results.
He said improved government revenues had enabled state governments to invest more in infrastructure, healthcare, education, technology and other critical sectors.
“Everything we are doing in Imo today is made possible because of the Renewed Hope Agenda. We are investing in infrastructure, healthcare, education and technology because the reforms have created the enabling environment for development,” he stated.
Uzodimma expressed optimism that Nigerians would reward the President with a second term in 2027 as the benefits of the reforms become more visible.
Speaking on behalf of journalists who participated in the media tour, veteran journalist Dr Soni Daniel commended the Imo State Government for its achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education and digital technology.
Daniel said the inspection tour provided participants with an opportunity to assess how public funds were being utilised, adding that the projects demonstrated Imo’s progress in infrastructure development and economic transformation.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, also praised Governor Uzodimma for executing major infrastructure projects and implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda in the state.

According to Dare, projects inspected during the tour, including the Imo Digital City, the 2,000 bed Infectious Disease Centre, the Heart Transplant Centre, the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre, reflected the benefits of collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments, as well as increased allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee.
