Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has clarified his political intentions following widespread reactions to a viral slogan suggesting he would serve only one term in office.
Speaking in a video shared online, Eko Hot Blog gathered that the governor addressed the Hausa chant “Falle Daya” (meaning “one term”), which has recently been associated with his administration.

Yusuf explained that the slogan should be understood in light of his recent political shift, noting that his first term would be completed under the New Nigeria Peoples Party, while a potential second term would be pursued under the All Progressives Congress.

He also downplayed the chances of other opposition parties gaining ground in the state, particularly dismissing the prospects of the African Democratic Congress.
The governor recently defected from the NNPP to the APC after a prolonged political rift involving his former ally, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a key figure in the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Announcing his defection earlier, Yusuf said the decision was taken in the best interest of Kano residents, citing ongoing internal disputes and leadership challenges within the NNPP.
The move is seen as part of broader political realignments in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
