Investigation ongoing as police probe wider fraud network
Police have arrested four men for allegedly defrauding a retired military officer and others of more than ₦150 million by falsely claiming links to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the development was disclosed in a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
One of the suspects, Yashim Kajang, was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was said to have convinced a retired Major General A. K. Ibrahim and other victims that he had connections with the FCT Minister and the Director of Lands.
Kajang allegedly promised to secure land documents for Plot 1985 located in Guzape II, Abuja, covering about three hectares, along with other plots, and collected over ₦150 million from the victims.
During interrogation, Kajang reportedly named three accomplices. They include Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both staff of the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, as well as Terngu Ipaven.

Investigators said Kajang disclosed that the group supplied him with land-related data and information used to carry out the alleged fraud.
The four suspects remain in custody as police continue investigations into the case.
