As the Peoples Democratic Party prepares for its national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan, Oyo State, key members of its National Executive Committee have shared their expectations for the incoming national chairman.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that in separate interviews with The PUNCH, NEC members Ibrahim Tsauri, a former national secretary, and Timothy Osadolor, the deputy national youth leader, expressed optimism that the next National Working Committee would rebuild and reenergise the PDP.

They called for a leader who will promote inclusivity, reconciliation, and unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At its 102nd NEC meeting held on August 25 in Abuja, the party resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while reserving the national chairmanship for the North. Northern leaders later met and micro-zoned the position to the North West.

Over the weekend, northern PDP governors led by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, as their consensus candidate.
However, some stakeholders loyal to former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido protested the decision, claiming they were excluded from the process.
Reports also suggest that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is backing former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom for the position.

Tsauri said the party must embrace credible leadership made up of people with integrity and capacity to restore confidence among members. He stressed that discipline, fairness, and respect for the party’s constitution should define the next leadership.
Osadolor added that the next chairman must learn from past mistakes, listen to all sides, and prioritise reconciliation. He noted that the role should not be driven by personal ambition but by a commitment to uniting the party and preparing it for victory in 2027.
