Israel has expressed support for the United States’ decision to halt planned military strikes on Iran for two weeks, but clarified that the temporary ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon.
In a statement released on Wednesday via X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government backs efforts by US President Donald Trump to ensure Iran no longer poses what he described as a nuclear, missile, and security threat to the United States, Israel, and the wider region, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

Netanyahu disclosed that Washington has reassured Israel of its commitment to achieving these objectives during upcoming diplomatic talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad.

However, he stressed that the two-week truce arrangement excludes Lebanon, despite broader claims suggesting otherwise.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced that the United States, Iran, and their allies had agreed to an immediate ceasefire across multiple fronts, including Lebanon. He said the agreement had taken effect without delay.
Lebanon became involved in the conflict on March 2 after the Iran-backed group Hezbollah launched attacks against Israel.
The group said its actions were in response to Israel’s killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the onset of the war, as well as repeated violations of an earlier ceasefire reached in November 2024.

That previous truce had followed over a year of cross-border hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, which intensified after Israel’s military campaign in Gaza began in October 2023.
Lebanese officials report that since early March, Israeli strikes have resulted in more than 1,500 deaths and displaced over one million people.
Israel has also carried out a ground offensive in southern Lebanon, stating that the operation is aimed at creating a buffer zone along its border.
