The summit, with the theme “Blue Economy, Green Money: Financing Africa’s Coastal Resilience and Ocean Innovation,” will be held at the Lagos Continental Hotel from November 6 to 7, 2025, attracting global leaders, investors, climate scientists, and policymakers.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the governor said Lagos remains at the forefront of developing mechanisms for city-level climate finance and blue economy growth.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the state was already advancing blue bonds and nature-based coastal protection projects as part of its drive to position Lagos as a model for sustainable urban development in Africa. Wahab added that the upcoming summit would go beyond discussions, serving as a declaration that African cities can design and finance their own climate-resilient future.
The event will accelerate action and investment in Africa’s coastal and ocean economies ahead of the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference, spotlighting blue economy financing as a key frontier for innovation and job creation.
