Former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), officially submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman position on Monday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Turaki completed the submission at the Secretariat of the PDP National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) in Legacy House, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, Abuja.

The submission comes ahead of the PDP’s Elective National Convention, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Reports indicate that several PDP governors and a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) have endorsed Turaki as a consensus candidate for the chairmanship ahead of the convention.

The push for Turaki reportedly came from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
In parallel, Makinde is said to be supporting his ally, former Oyo State Deputy Governor Taofeek Arapaja, for the position of National Secretary.
However, the consensus move has faced internal resistance. Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike criticized the decision, accusing Governor Fintiri of announcing a consensus candidate without broader consultations within the party.

Earlier on Monday, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido expressed frustration over his inability to obtain the nomination form to contest for the PDP National Chairmanship.
Lamido had previously declared his intention to run via his verified Facebook page, but was reportedly blocked from securing the form at the party’s national headquarters.

Speaking to journalists, the former Foreign Affairs Minister reaffirmed his readiness to contest the chairmanship during the November 15–16 convention in Ibadan and warned that he would seek legal recourse if denied the opportunity.
This development adds to mounting tensions within the PDP as the party prepares for its National Convention and the 2027 general elections.
