The Baba Adinni of Lagos, Bashorun Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, has called for greater unity among Muslims and renewed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying such cohesion is crucial for national progress.
Eko Hot Blog reports that he made the remarks during the Raabitah Eko 2025 conference organised by the League of Imams and Alfas in Yoruba Land. Alabi-Macfoy described the conference’s theme focused on strengthening peaceful coexistence among leaders as timely and significant, given current national realities.

According to him, a successful outcome from the three-day gathering would help the Muslim community speak with one voice, strengthen internal cohesion, and enhance the collective standing of Islam in Lagos and across Nigeria. He argued that such unity would also position the Ummah to play a more influential role ahead of future national decisions.
Alabi-Macfoy praised President Tinubu’s administration, noting that he believes the President is taking bold steps necessary for long-term development. While acknowledging the tough policies introduced in recent months, he maintained that the effects are beginning to reflect in gradual improvements.
“He came well prepared, and he is steadily but surely moving the nation in the right direction,” he said.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the Lagos Muslim leader outlined three recommendations for the Muslim community: demonstrating loyalty to national leadership, promoting broader public understanding of government policies, and encouraging eligible Nigerians to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards.
He referenced Qur’an 4:59 to emphasise the importance of obedience to legitimate authority.
Addressing concerns about insecurity, Alabi-Macfoy urged Nigerians to dismiss narratives suggesting a looming religious conflict or foreign invasion. He described such claims as divisive and misleading, stressing that many Nigerian families including the President’s have members belonging to different faiths.
He commended the administration’s security efforts, asserting that progress is being made in tackling insurgency, kidnapping and banditry.
Alabi-Macfoy concluded by urging the Muslim community to strengthen internal structures and deepen unity, which he believes will contribute to a more vibrant Islamic community in the years ahead.
