Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation UDO KA have rescued 14 kidnapped persons during a clearance operation in Orokam Forest, located between Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State and Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the victims were reportedly abducted while returning from a burial over the weekend. Security specialist Zagazola Makama disclosed on Saturday that a military insider confirmed the successful rescue, explaining that troops, supported by vigilance groups, raided the kidnappers’ hideout after receiving credible intelligence.
He noted that the kidnappers opened fire as the troops advanced, but were overpowered by the superior firepower of the soldiers, prompting the criminals to flee and abandon the hostages. Preliminary findings indicated that the abducted persons were taken from two communities, Ezimo Agu in Udenu LGA of Enugu State and Orokam in Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State.
The victims were reportedly kept in separate camps deep inside the forest. They have since been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Udenu Division for profiling and reunification with their families.

According to the source, troops have intensified patrols in the area to restrict criminal movements. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining its operational momentum across the country to enhance public safety.
