Charles Omole, author of From Soldier to Statesman, has claimed that at least five influential cabals are operating within the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Omole made the assertion during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Thursday. According to him, the President himself leads one of the dominant power blocs within the government.

He explained that while it is natural for a president to be surrounded by trusted aides, strong institutional systems must be in place to prevent what he described as “state capture” or “presidential capture.”
Omole said his assessment of the current administration indicates the existence of five distinct groups wielding influence within the presidency. One of these, he noted, is directly associated with President Tinubu.

He identified another group as the Chief of Staff bloc, led by Femi Gbajabiamila, which he said also includes key figures such as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to Omole, a third group is linked to Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, comprising individuals who allegedly benefitted from his support in securing government appointments.
He further named a fourth bloc associated with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Omole stressed that without strong checks and balances, the influence of such groups could undermine governance, even though power clusters are a common feature in presidential systems.
