According to a statement released by the Lagos State Government, the defendants were arraigned on March 10, 2026, before the Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Ikeja, in the matter of Attorney General of Lagos State v. Olamilekan Abdullahi and 6 Others.
They face a five-count charge including conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, illegal dumping of refuse at unapproved locations, failure to engage an approved Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste operator, obstruction of officers in the performance of their duties, and assault.
All seven defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them. The court subsequently adjourned the trial to April 24, 2026, and granted bail in the sum of ₦200,000 each.
Each defendant must provide two responsible sureties, one being a recognized community leader and the other a gainfully employed relative. Until bail conditions are met, the defendants remain in a correctional facility.

The Lagos Waste Management Authority cautioned that assaulting or obstructing enforcement officers is a serious offence under Lagos State law. It emphasized that any actions undermining environmental enforcement operations would be addressed through appropriate legal channels.
This arraignment follows repeated warnings by LAWMA against harassment or attacks on its personnel while performing lawful duties to maintain sanitation and enforce environmental regulations across the state.
