It’s an addiction. I read all of you,” the President said. He explained that the intense criticism and scrutiny from the media at the start of his administration pushed him to reflect and make necessary adjustments in governance. Tinubu acknowledged that he initially adopted a tough stance while searching for ways to correct systemic issues and improve living conditions for Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable. “At the beginning of this administration, I was just a little bit stubborn, looking at opportunities to correct things and make life easier for the downtrodden,” he said. The President also pointed to recent reforms aimed at strengthening the principle of federalism, especially efforts to ensure that local governments receive direct financial allocations from the federal government. President Tinubu According to him, the policy is intended to empower local administrations to deliver development and public services more effectively. Tinubu, however, stressed that responsibility also lies with local government authorities to ensure that the funds are used properly. “We’ve opened up the principle of federalism to the extent that local governments are now getting their money, but how they use it is in your hands. So, don’t bombard me alone,” he said.
