Professor Charles Soludo has officially begun his second tenure as Governor of Anambra State after taking the oath of office at a ceremony held on Tuesday in Awka, the state capital.

The event drew several high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.

Soludo secured re-election after being declared the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He garnered 422,664 votes, comfortably defeating his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who received 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party finished third with 37,753 votes.

INEC reported that 16 candidates contested in the election. Out of the 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited to vote.
A total of 595,298 ballots were cast, with 11,244 deemed invalid across the state’s 21 local government areas.
The results showed a sweeping victory for Soludo, as he emerged the winner in all 21 local government areas, underscoring a decisive mandate from the electorate.
